KJO Hospital

History

Medical services in Al Khafji City have existed since 1960 when Arabian Oil Company (AOC) opened a medical clinic to provide services to company employees, their families and the citizens of Al Khafji. AOC opened two medical facilities, a 65 bed hospital for medical and surgical inpatients and outpatient clinics. including :
During the first Gulf War, the hospital was destroyed and it was replaced by a temporary facility until the current hospital was built. Construction for the present hospital commenced in 1997 and the hospital, provided with advanced medical and diagnostic equipment, was inaugurated on 14 February 1998.



Current Profile :

The present Hospital is licensed for 100 beds by the Ministry of Health. The services include :
  • • The Medical Specialities of Cardiology (non invasive), Neurology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology and Haemodialysis, Rheumatology, Dermatology, Occupational Medicine and General Practice.
  • • The Surgical Specialities of General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, Vascular Surgery, Otorhinolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Vascular Surgery.
  • • Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Neonatology.
  • • Anaesthesiology, Dental services and Psychiatry.
  • • The Other Specialities of Radiology (including CT scan and MRI), Laboratory, Blood Bank, Physiotherapy, Nutritional and Dietetics Therapy and Speech Therapy and an in House Pharmacy.
  • • Quality Improvement, Infection Control, Pharmacy Compliance Coordination.
  • • A Twenty four hours Emergency Room with 19 beds, out of which five are equipped for critical cases.
  • • A ten bed Intensive Care Unit and a six bed (Incubator) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
  • • Facilities for a Helipad and Medivac Transfer.
  • • Four fully equipped Operating Rooms.


It has two separate buildings, the main building for all services including Consultant level Out Patients, and the Out Patient Department Annex, which contains Specialist level clinics along with the Helipad on the roof.

The hospital is now part of Al Khafji Joint Operations Company under the medical services Division (MSD) representing AGOC and KGOC and has been managed by AMI Saudi Arabia Ltd since 01 January 2017. This is the fourth Operating Company to take over the Operations of the Hospital.

Administration :     0700 hours to 1700 hours with 1 hour break
 1200 - 1300 hours (Sunday to Thursday)
Out Patient Department :     0700 hours to 1700 hours with 1 hour break
 1200 - 1300 hours (Sunday-Thursday)
Emergency Room :     24 hours a day; 7 days a week
Inpatient & Critical Areas :     24 hours a day; 7 days a week
Diagnostic Services :     24 hours a day; 7 days a week

Pharmaceutical Services :
   Inpatient Pharmacy :   24 hours a day; 7 days a week (Serving inpatients and ER)
   Out-patient Pharmacy :   0700 hours to 1700 hours

Objectives of KJOH :

  • • Recruit and maintain high quality Healthcare providers to ensure the highest possible quality of services.
  • • Promote and maintain good health for all KJO employees and their eligible dependants.
  • • Assure sustainability of high quality and safe healthcare provided to the patients through continuous education to all healthcare providers, monitoring their performance, analysing data related to performance and finding opportunities for improvement.
  • • Establish and maintain strong links with the major healthcare providers in KSA and Kuwait for educational purposes and assessment of technology needs.
  • • Maintain a healthy relationship with the other two Hospitals in Al Khafji (Khafji General Hospital and Khafji National Hospital) for mutual help and support in all aspects of Healthcare.
  • • Acquire and maintain the latest equipment and facilities.
  • • Provide effective health care clinical and management programmes through planning, target prioritization, resource allocation, and continuous improvement.
  • • Maintain high standards of Healthcare Services and Patient Safety through maintaining the ISO certification & JCI Accreditation and achieving the CBAHI accreditation.

KJO Hospital has an active Quality Improvement Department and the staff are constantly orientated and updated with Quality Standards and Projects.

Training :

KJO Hospital has an active Training Department including a Life Support Training Centre (LSTC). It has in house training for the Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) courses, recognized by the Parent bodies.

In addition, KJO Hospital invites and encourages external trainers from KJO as well as from outside KJO for training and education. The staff of the Hospital are sent out for training courses for constant updating and advancement.
